Who should you NOT connect with on LinkedIn?

Who should you NOT connect with on LinkedIn?

Look at the image of this LinkedIn connection invitation which arrived in my inbox this morning.

Would you connect with this person? 32 of my connections already have.

So why wouldn’t I want to connect as well?

If you’re using LinkedIn to grow your business, it’s not always a good idea to connect with everyone who asks you.

The clues here are in the bits of the image that I have highlighted.

BAD BOTS

You see the bit in yellow where it says Lollipop: Generating Fire & Security Leads since 2010?

That’s the name of my LinkedIn Company ... Continue reading

11 years of Lollipop Fire & Security Marketing

11 years of Lollipop Fire & Security Marketing

Yes, it was on the evening of 20 October 2010 when I first registered the limited company called Lollipop Local Ltd.

I had just driven back along the M25 from a meeting with Dave Keegan and Martin Foster of Spy Alarms Ltd.

We were now going to be supplying them with a new website and ongoing digital marketing specific to Fire & Security lead generation.

Previously our clients had been small local sole traders but now we were working with a major player in a recognised industry.

So I made the decision to move from sole ... Continue reading

Skyrocket Your Visibility On LinkedIn

Skyrocket Your Visibility On LinkedIn

Fire & Security directors often ask me if I am on LinkedIn 24/7.

And the answer is a resounding ‘NO’

I actually probably spend an hour on the platform every day.

So what do I do on LinkedIn in that hour?

I read my newsfeed and like, comment and share.

I connect with people in the industry who look interesting. And have a little chat.

And I sometimes post something of my own that might help my connections to better understand what we do.

That’s it. Simples.

But higher visibility means my Fire & Security sales have skyrocketed this year.

What difference would ... Continue reading

Stopping the scroll on social media

Stopping the scroll on social media

You’ve decided on who the ideal customer is for your Fire & Security company.

And why that person should choose you as their supplier.

Now it’s time to start putting your message out on social media to get in front of them.

Your ideal customers are scrolling through their news feeds on LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter.

It’s vital that your updates catch their eye and make them pause to check you out.

So, for any Fire & Security professionals who see this…

Which colour do you prefer – Red or blue?

Who, What, Why to Position your Fire & Security business…

Who, What, Why to Position your Fire & Security business

We have been working on positioning and messaging using the book Position to Win: Most businesses fail in the first 5 minutes by John Paul Mendocha and Gabe Bautista

What differentiates you allows you to show your value. And not get caught in a race to the bottom on price. Vital for lead generation AND for sales.

Fire & Security Marketing Tips #1 – Connect your LinkedIn…

Fire & Security Marketing Tips #1 – Connect your LinkedIn Profile to your Page

One of the most common mistakes we see Fire & Security professionals making on LinkedIn is not connecting your personal profile to your Company Page.

Why is that a problem for lead generation?

Because you want your connections to:

1. be able to find your Company Page easily so they can follow it; and

2. click through from your Page to your website so they can make an enquiry.

So how do you make that connection happen?

Check out our simple instruction graphics below.

Blackberries and Lead Generation… Really?

Blackberries and Lead Generation… Really?

Our first blackberries of the season! The Lollies love foraging – we’re willing to put in the hard yards and risk the scratches to find the best fruit. And, over the last couple of years, we have developed a system to get the best results.

This determination applies whether it’s for nature’s bounty OR generating more leads and sales for Fire & Security companies.

BUT HOW DO YOU PROVE THAT?

I was talking to a prospect this morning who asked exactly that. There are loads of marketing agencies who SAY they can help you to rank better and get ... Continue reading

Turning social media activity into leads and sales

Turning social media activity into leads and sales

Here are two recent examples of leads generated through social media

“…you are spot on with how you have presented this problem, at times my company will find the need for such. Would you be able to send more information about your company to [email address]”

“Thanks [for connecting] Good message by the way! I will pass on [to other colleagues] and let you know if I get any positive feedback. Thanks again”

The sales teams at these Fire & Security companies are using social media to open doors.

They’re getting past gatekeepers.

And starting conversations ... Continue reading

When your installation tools are stolen…

When your installation tools are stolen…

Reading on Twitter yesterday that one of our electrician friends has had their van broken into and the tools stolen 🙁

That’s bad enough but then the story got worse!

You may think you are insured but…

BE AWARE their insurance would only pay out for TOOLS THEY HAD RECEIPTS FOR!!

Not only did they lose money and goodwill through having to cancel jobs at short notice and time having to replace their stolen property.

But they will also have a shortfall in the amount they will be reimbursed for replacement.

Make sure you save receipts for any tool ... Continue reading
