Recently I got out my balls to explain digital marketing. It was during an interview with Kirsty van den Bulk on her LinkedIn Live show called The Wise Why.
Kirsty specialises in helping people to be camera confident! In the days prior to recording, she definitely knocked me into shape. I was pretty scared on the morning but, by the time we got onto camera, I felt a lot happier about things.
Here’s a quick snippet…
Well, good morning everyone. I’m Jo Shaer and I specialise in helping the fire and security good guys to double their sales.
And I love what I do, but the trouble is that not many people actually understand what it is that I do.
So, Kirsty, is it too early for me to get my balls out?
Most of the fire and security directors that I speak to will tell me that they get 80% of their leads through word of mouth.
Now, word of mouth is where somebody knows you or they know your customers.
And if you’re only relying on word of mouth, then you’re missing out on half the potential for leads.
You need to double that visibility.
And the way to do that is to go onto the internet.
Because on the internet, there are lots of people who
– don’t know you; and
– don’t know your customers; but
– they do need what you do.
Your goal is to get Google to send you that traffic.
Now what’s the job role that you know, that is best suited to directing traffic?
Think about it.
It’s the lollipop lady.
And that’s what I do.
I am an internet lollipop lady.
